Ty Detmer with Heisman Trophy, an illustration I did back in 1990 (original for sale)

This is the illustration I did of Ty Detmer, the Heisman trophy winning BYU quarterback for the 1990-91 football season poster. It was a neat experience meeting and photographing him for this piece. He was a real nice person. After a great college career, Ty went on to play 14 years in the NFL, for the Philadelphia Eagles and others. He was just inducted into the NCAA College Football Hall of Fame (as of this posting 3/12/13).  The original is 30 x 54 on board, in mixed media including acrylic, pencil, and gesso. I have done many famous persons, paintings and the like over a career that spans 35 years. I'm a member of the New York Society of Illustrators and a nationally recognized artist for my courtroom art.

Not so sure...

Too much technology. Too many gadgets. Thats my take on it all.  Truthfully I'd rather be without a cell phone, fax, internet, computers. Live the simple life.  That is what i wish for. but am i trapped? I think so. Unless I withdraw myself from the world, I'm affraid we all are trapped. But it is a sad comentary when you see people in the same room not even interacting to each other but texting or playing a game on a hand held devise. Were is the old fashioned common courtesy of interaction and politeness. Are we loosing what is most important, the personal connection? I think so.  wha do you think???
